Here is where I will post articles, links, images, etc. for our study of the arts.
After viewing the painting 'Still Life: An Allegory of the Vanities of Human Life' by Harmen Steenwyck, go to the website and read the allegorical and symbolic explanations happening in the painting.

Winter Break Honors Junior Humanities Extra Credit Opportunities (you may complete any 2 of these)
1.) You are able to attend a showing of the newly made and released documentary "They Shall Not Grow Old." This film shows newly restored WWI footage that has been revitalized using new technology and the movie was directed by Peter Jackson. The movie only plays on December 27th, with 2 showings at 2 theaters. The link below will help you find the theaters and showtimes. You may need to purchase your tickets online ahead of time. Attend the film and write a 1 paragraph summary/review of the film. Staple your movie ticket to it, and turn it in by January 9th.

2.) One of the most egregious and horrific miscarriages of justice is found in the story Kalief Browder. His story is heartbreaking but has also led to some critically important conversations and even the beginnings of some important reforms. Netflix has released a 6 part mini-series about his life. You must watch all 6 parts, and then summarize the events of Kalief's life and why his story is important. Write this up in at least 2 paragraphs and turn it in by January 9th.
