Welcome to High School Social Studies
Greetings students, parents, and any others who may have come across this site. It is my honor to guide you through some of your learning at Mead High School. My name is Chris Waddell, and no, that is not me pictured at the left. However, if you would like to get to the Mead High School home page click on the Panther, and he will take you there. I am excited to work with you this year, and if you would like to know a little about me, you can read a short bio about my qualifications below. Otherwise, you will most likely enjoy looking at your specific class web page, or you may enjoy watching some of the short videos and animations that can be found on this page. Use the "Links" page to find some other sites that have great information and resources--many of which we use in class.
Mr. Waddell's Brief Bio
After graduating high school in 1997, I worked with various youth organizations for six years. After which I decided to combine my passions of History and Politics with working for young people by becoming a Social Studies teacher. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Whitworth University in 2008 with a Major in History and a Minor in Political Science. I then entered Whitworth University's Master in Teaching Program and completed my Master's Degree in 2009. I have participated in collegiate, historical, and educational honor societies. I have also earned recognition for my research on the Vietnam War and Karl Marx's view of the U.S. Civil War. I love coaching athletics and have worked as a football and track coach at various high schools. I have an amazing wife who teaches 7th grade in Central Valley School District and two awesome English Bulldogs named Winston and Nike. My wife and I are exceptionally blessed with a beautiful little girl, Kyla Rose Waddell. She is gorgeous, like her mother, and full of energy and fearless. I really love spending time with all of them, and our favorite family vacation spot is the Oregon Coast.
